Today I have brought a Jaguar XJL for you. Let’s look at what are the features in it, and why it is so expensive. You’re reading SPOKESMAN REVIEW. Let's get into the show. This brand was started in 1922. Initially, they didn’t start out as a car manufacturer. They used to make sidecars for bikes. The additional wagon on the side of motorcycles, in which someone can sit and travel. They used to make those.

                                                        

And that company was called Swallow Sidecars. After that, they built bodies for the cars manufactured by Standard Motors. And later, they moved to manufacture cars. And the name of that company is SS Cars Ltd. The first model that came out of their company was called 'Jaguar'. Later, they took the same name for the company. The popularity of the brand is such, that the Queen herself owns two Jaguars. 

                                     

It's also said that she used to drive them herself. Let's see what's inside the car. I’ve been using this vehicle for more than a year now. I bought this car for personal use and driving around. I don’t think I am that old to be chauffeured, yet. The body and the frame are made with Aluminium. If you compare it with the vehicles if this segment, this one's 200 to 300 kgs lesser. The stability is high and the vehicle is pretty strong. If you look at the engine specs, this is a V6 Engine. This car packs more power than other cars in the same segment. 

                                     

This one's 275 BHP.. The recent makes have been upgraded above 300 BHP.. ..to 307 or 310 BHP. As for the alloys. The rear comes with broader tires than the front. The rear tire width is 275 and the front, 245. These alloy shapes are called concave wheels. The bolt and nuts are tucked in, and. The rim is projected outwards, giving it a bowl effect. This aligns nicely with the arches of the car. Even the door sizes are fairly big. It aims to maximize the comfort of the rear and front seats entirely. The driving experience gives me the feeling that this is definitely a driver’s car. The S-Class, 7-series are better when chauffeured. You can hire someone to drive you, while you relax. It's not that the Jaguar lacks rear comfort. It's there. But not as pampering as an S-Class or a 7-Series. 

                                  

But to drive, this car is better than those. It doesn’t feel like a big car while taking corners, feels more like a small car. And the car grips really well even at 140 - 180kmph. It handles the curves beautifully. Just that, on bumpy and rough roads. You'll feel the jerk inside the car. Since it's clearance is low compared to other cars. On the road too, this car makes a lot of heads turn. People may not have seen this car often. Plus, the shape is very eye-catchy. It's hard to make a coupé shape out of such a big car. Normally if you look at coupés, 

                                        

The slope starts right from the trunk.. ..and goes till the bonnet, shaping the roof curvaceously. This spot particularly forms a slope. So, this shape is called a Coupé. The interiors are designed with the aesthetics inspired by a yacht. And it definitely looks like that. The front AC vents look like propellers. If you see the side panels that are made of wood. They are connected, surrounding the insides of the car. That to give out the vibe of a yacht. When you enter the car, you will get the smell of leather. It provides a very pleasant welcome. It is one of the primary reasons, why I picked this car. They have used bull's leather to fabricate the upholstery. So, for the spots that are in regular wear, the top layer of the bull is used. Since the back layer is where the bull's skin is stronger. 

                                      

And in areas with lesser wear, they have used soft leather.. ..that's from the belly portion of the Bull. Next, I'll tell you about the sound system in this car. I'll have to admit, this is not one of the best. I felt the BMW's sound system was better. This car comes with a Meridian Sound System. The BMW packed a better bass than this car's sound. But the makers have mentioned that they have focused more on the luxury. And if the sound and bass are too high.. .. you tend to get tired while driving, was their explanation. which seemed acceptable to me. 

                                                     

In this windshield, when someone shines a light directly, it won't glare. You won’t be visible at first glance. But when you zoom into the windshield, you will able to see tiny lines on it. This shields your eyes from being affected by a high beam from other vehicles. Many luxury cars don't have this feature. It's been provided in this vehicle. Add to this, auto-dimming side mirrors. When you drive at night, the side mirrors tend to catch the high beam from the vehicle behind. It hurts the eye. This tint comes on automatically when that happens.

                                        

The same feature is available in the rear-view mirror as well. As for the wipers.. the water spraying function is integrated in it. The water comes from the wiper itself and cleans the windshield That’s a very nice feature in this. And then, they have given a panoramic sunroof. The tail design looks like a cat clawed it. That’s the three lines extending into strips. And hence the moniker 'cat claws' design. The headlights in this car move and turn in tandem with your steering wheel. If you’re on a highway at a good speed, and you turn a corner, the light turns with you. It's cued to the steering movement. 

                                     

                                   

They have provided a heated steering wheel. If you go to places with snow, your hands tend to become cold holding the wheel. This wooden part in the steering heats up. Ventilated seats that you can turn cold or hot. And it has a massage function. Mostly 7-Series and S-Class have this feature only in their rear seats. But the Jaguar gives massages in all four seats. It has an upper body, as well as lower body massaging. When I travel long distances, I have used it. After driving about 500kms, we tend to feel tired. And after I got a massage, I felt refreshed. Personally, I thought it was good. The driver too should normally get this feature. But many companies miss out on it. Jaguar, as a first in this segment. Gave LED speedometers very early on. The center console display here is actually multi-view. From the driver's side, I see the vehicle settings. If the passenger plays a movie on the other side.. .. they see it on the other screen. 

                                     

That's a unique feature not available in other cars. Of all the cars I've driven before. Must be 6 or 7 of them. X6, GL, 5-Series, 3-series and so on.. and in that list, if you look at the rating for this.. If I can rate it for the sporty feel.. I would give this the first place. If you look comfort-wise... it’s definitely the Mercedes, and then the BMW X6. This stands at a third place there. And the Jaguar standing symbol! Many people who buy the Jaguar, do so for this regal insignia. Basically, car manufacturers look at their valuation by selling a greater number of cars. Whereas ultra-luxury car brands like this are valued at how many limited pieces of cars they sell. Even this car, for that matter, has been in the market for 50 years now.. 

                                 

CONCLUSION

Can you believe that? They have been refining this car for 50 years now.. So, let's see, yeah.. Jaguar is the most bad-ass car manufacturer of the lot. If you look in  Hollywood movies. In many James Bond movies, if you look at the chasing car, they will all be Jaguars.So this car gives off a very bad-ass vibe. Many gangsters have also used or owned a Jaguar.
